Judge Baltasar Garzón will be in the opening session of the European Humanist Forum 2018 taking place on the 11th, 12th and 13th of May in Madrid. He will talk about issues concerning Universal Jurisdiction in the defence of Human Rights. The opening session will take place on the 11th of May at 5pm in the UNED Faculty of Education Sciences.
With the slogan “What unites us towards the Universal Human Nation”, the 5th European Humanist Forum will take place on the 11th, 12th and 13th of May in Madrid. The opening session will take place in the Education Science Faculty of Spain’s Distance Education University and on Saturday and Sunday, events will take place at the El Pozo Cultural Centre. Preparations for the European Humanist Forum are gathering pace and every day we’re receiving information about new initiatives, more confirmations of supporters and more confirmed speakers. Among the latter, Tomás Hirsch, life-long humanist from Chile, twice presidential candidate, author of the book “The end of prehistory: a path towards freedom”, and recently elected member of the Chilean Congress for the Humanist Party, in the “Broad Front” parliamentary bloc.

The European Humanist Forum 2018 will take place in Madrid on the 11th, 12th and 13th of May and is an initiative incredibly organised 100% by volunteers who not only have the difficulties of daily life to resolve before applying themselves to the task of making the forum happen, they then have to resolve the difficulties of trying to communicate among themselves even though they all speak different languages!
Many hundreds of hours of work have been invested so far in getting the forum to this stage and with 3 and a half months to go all the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle are starting to fit together. The most impressive externally visible part so far is the website running in 7 languages, but a lot of things are in motion behind the scenes. (more…)
What unites us towards the Universal Human Nation
Ten years after the Milan Forum, European Humanists have relaunched an initiative to bring together diverse organisations and movements from around the old continent, and beyond, in a demonstration of convergence to discover the common underlying problems facing all sectors of social and political activism.
With the slogan of “What unites us towards the Universal Human Nation” the organisers hope to start something that can inspire similar activities in other parts of the world and at all levels; regional, national and local. (more…)
